Hate to disapoint you, but Clinton never had the power Castro, Chavez or Mugabe have. The Office of US President is very clearly defined by the constitution, limiting the powers of its holder to only act in the interest of its citizen's security. Anything Clinton may have promised you in the past you should take up with him personally: his office never made him our "leader", nor did it gave him the authority to promise you anything beyond the money he earned himself.

This attitude is widespread across Africa. After that you want to pump money in that country? Another garbage-dump country; Ethiopia. They are receiving food-aid for the last 25 years! This is more than a generation! What are they doing to waste so much help?

The idea that the west is somehow causing the third world to be poor is nonsense. Before the west became rich everyone was poor(for 200.000 years), by the way poorer than most poor people today. If anything we are helping by exporting scientific progress to poor countries. I don't owe anyone anything, except maybe some advice: follow the lead of the US and the west. Individual rights and capitalism bring prosperity, religious fanaticism and socialism bring poverty.

poverty in third world countries is sustained by their continually being raped by western consumerism. it's not exactly their fault, and neither is it ours, that's just the way capitalism works. the rich make themselves richer at the expense of the poor. zimbabwe; the same thing is happening on a smaller scale. the nation's powerful are screwing over the nation's poor for their own gain. the upside, though, is that every now and then a french revolution happens.

Silly. Only the few benefit from Capitalism. Meritocracy (the idea that if you work hard you will succeed) does not exist in the real world. People are dominated by the elite few at the top of the capitalist pyramid. Capitalism ftl (of most people).
