But not so long ago an amateur photographer managed to, for the first time capture a lion taking down and killing a giraffe on tape. ANCHOR: The birth of three cubs at Nandan Garden in India's northern Raipur
attracts hordes of visitors, bolstering the dwindling tiger population.STORY: Visitors are flocking the Nandan Garden in India's central Raipur to
catch a glimpse of three new-born lion cubs.
 Authorities from the garden said that the cubs born on March 14 are in
good health and facilities are being provided to protect them from the heat
wave.

Tiwari, manager Nandan Garden]: "Saraswati gave birth to 3 cubs and all three are in fine fettle.
The animals need extra care during summers and we are ensuring all facilities
to the cubs to protect them from the scorching heat."Children visiting the garden during the summer vacations are excited
about the newborns. 
[Roop Singh, a visitor]: "The experience was very good. Children who are enthusiastic zoo
visitors are thrilled with the presence of the cubs in the zoo. They have come
specially to see the cubs."Asiatic lions -- different from African lions, with a characteristic
skin fold on their bellies and thinner manes on the males -- once roamed most
of Asia.
Wildlife activists say the lions are also under threat from thousands
of villagers living in and around the forests and want them to be relocated to
save the endangered species.
India is also struggling to save its endangered tigers, as people
invade their habitat and poachers kill them for body parts that fetch huge
sums in the international black market.

I recorded this the other day when I visited Aalborg Zoo with a friend and her dog.Before we went there, she told me that her dog, Nala, made friends with a sea lion. Nobody believed that it really happened and I must say that it really surprised me as well when I saw the reunion of the this odd couple :)

Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Fl. provides a permanent home to over 140 exotic cats from Hybrids to Lions.
