Visit Remi-chan.http://www.youtube.com/user/remifebruaryPun #1.Shooga (ショウガ) in Japanese means ginger. Shoo ga nai. (しょうがない)is a common phrase which means "it can't be helped"/ "too bad".But the words "Shooga nai" also mean...there is no ginger...Remi responds to the puns by saying "samui" which means "cold". The joke is so bad it is like a cold wind blowing through. "SAmui" is a common way to say something is not funny or a bad joke. Later she says "sara ni samui" which means that it is even more samui. That's why remi is snuggled in a blanket:)Ken- Do you have juice with shouga (ginger) in it.Clerk- noKen- jaa shou ga nai(It can't be helped/there is no ginger). In this case Ken asks if they have juice with shooga (ginger) in it.The woman says "no". I picked up some Japanese words in "Slang" website, I thought of what I can do as a Japanese person...I live in "Kobe" so I have to remind you that my pronounciation would be different from those in "Tokyo" the capital city of Japan. But still, I am native Japanese and I believe I speak my language pretty good."Repeat After Me" and give them a go, you might find it useful oneday. (Though I doubt that. :-P)
