I thought that holographic television video I made sucked quite a bit, so I decided to re-make it!This time around, I made the screens a lot more easy to see, added some dynamic interactivity between the screens (although you can't see it because of YouTube's compression/quality loss) and I added more interactivity between me and the screens.The video I opened up is a bit of an easter egg... It was a lightsaber duel my friend Ryan and I made at the start of the year. Unfortunately, it never made it onto YouTube because it sucked to badly. If anyone is interested, we're planning to remake it some time next year!Please note, nobody is allowed to comment that the only programs on the desktop are iTunes, MS Paint and Quicktime, and they aren't aligned properly. This is because of my lack of acting skill =) (other vfx artists may understand why)I'd also like to point out that the screens look way too saturated on YouTube (yes, also because of the compression/quality loss). The high definition version blends a lot better with the footage and therefore looks heaps more realistic. Here are the details.On the subject's side:• 35 HD cameras pointed at the subject in a ring• Different cameras shoot at different angles (like the matrix), to transmit the entire body image• The cameras are hooked up to the cameras in home base in NY, synchronizing the angles so perspective is right• The system is set up in trailers outside Obama and McCain HQ• Not only is it mechanical tracking via camera communication, there's infrared as well• Correspondents see a 37-inch plasma where the return feed of the combined images are fed back to them. Ps. No she`s not a real hologram! It`s a software trick that mixes with the camera`s in the CNN studio. She`s scanned in by using a range(in this case 35) of High Definition Camera`s that surround here at the location she`s standing at. So ìt`s a very large (and expensive) setup. It then transfers that information to mix with the camera`s(software) at the CNN center so the viewers can see it directly. The technology is called camera Tracking and is gaining more and more attention each year. Wolf Blitz does not see any hologram and is talking to thin air. He watches in the direction of the red dot on the floor and now and then watches to his right where there is a screen just outside of our view. Only the camera`s and software make it seem to the viewer that there is someone there. Still very cool technology but no Real Hologram.
