I saw a photo a few months ago that was incredibly difficult to look at. I thought it would be cool to make a video that's difficult to look at... not because it's disgusting or emotional, just because it tricks your brain a little. My homage to epilepsy. The magazine I'm reading, Creative Cow, is a great resource for After Effects tutorials too.
What is wrong with the iPhone's ear phone... why don't they have a volume control on it...Well, as you'll see 5 years from now they still haven't fixed it!!Although they have added a nice holographic screen... when it works...
Actual footage of a calf being born. Ever seen an animal birth? However, this occurred on a dairy/veal farm. I do not condone the slaughter of baby animals, in fact, I condemn it as barbarism. Humans should know better. Think about it! Consider vegetarianism. I think this one is SO COOL!See it for yourself (if you don't like it, at least watch through the first 45 seconds, then it gets really cool)Some info...Time spent creating effect: 1.5 hoursTime spent on first render: 1 hour.First render result: Messed up the camera and had to redo itTime spent on second render: 1 hourSecond render result: Forgot to render the sound AND used the wrong settings and ended up with a 3 gb file with no sound.Time spent on third render: 1 hourThird render result: It seriously fucked up. I don't even know, it was just all these flashes.Time spent on fourth render: 45 minutesFourth render result: Uploaded to youtube and facebook, found out that the audio was off sync. Couldn't figure out why. Re-rendered.Fifth render took another 45 minutes, but I fell asleep in the middle of it and didn't get it uploaded until now (8:45 pm). I really hope the audio sync is ok...Some more info... I didn't physically animate the swirly's path. (Although I can if i want to.) I just created a set of rules for the camera and the swirlys to follow and let it run for 2 minutes, then set up a glow effect that increased with the the music intensity.I initially had it so that the swirly's actually moved with the music, but it was way too jumpy and didn't look nice. The effect is actually still there; I didn't remove it, I just lowered it a bunch. If you look closely, the place where the swirls emit from jumps a little bit to the tune.Anyways, I'm really really happy with this one. But I was too fed-up with rendering to bring it into Premiere and fade the sound in/out nicely, or to add my name or anything
